Summary
A Coromandel lacquer folding screen, one of two fragments of a larger screen, probably 18th century, but reduced in size. The Coromandel lacquer Chinese. This screen of four hinged folds, with incised polychrome figures in a townscape within floral borders against a black ground.
Provenance
The bequest of Margaret (Anderson) McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald - later Dame Margaret - Henry Fulke Greville, DBE (1863-1942) from probate records linked with the donation of the property to the National Trust in 1943. This item found on the record for Polesden Lacey Mrs Greville's Sitting Room, page 49. On loan to Dyrham until March 2000.
