Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Gentleman, possibly Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh (1714-1774), after William Hoare of Bath, RA (Eye 1707 – Bath 1792) (?), mid 18th century. A square-framed oval half-length portrait of a man, turned to the left, his head facing the viewer, wearing a blue coat, red waistcoat with gold trimming, white cravat, and powdered grey wig with a bow.

Armstrong collection; transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
