Summary
Oval Staffordshire enamel patch box, late 18th century, the lid printed and coloured with a couple, she playing a pipe, he fretting over a broken pitcher, their dog licking up the remains, pink base, original steel mirror. Contains two notes This little patch box/to Mairi/from Diana and me/with affection, and 14.11.76/From Diana and Me/Beacon Hill.
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009) 1976, then accepted by HM Governement in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013.
