Summary
Oil painting on panel, The Israelites passing over the Jordan with the Ark of Covenant/ The Israelites leaving Egypt by/after Frans Francken II (Antwerp 1581 - Antwerp 1642), 1640-60. The biblical scene is related in Joshua 3 & 4: 23. Crowds including horse and camel mounted figures, mothers and children line the track down which four religious figures carry the Ark of the Covenant on their shoulders. Group in conversation to the left in foreground. Companion to NT 1196058.
