Summary
One of a pair of Derby porcelain ice pails, circ 1790, painted with groups of flowers beneath gilt and apricot borders, puce painted, '151' and factory marks. Ferguson 'Ice pail or wine bottle cooler, one of two, soft-paste porcelain, probably painted by Williams Billingsley with central flower bouquets above as gold dot border, below a gold line band and a salmon-pink coloured rim with formal gilt foliate border, puce painted crown, batons and D factory mark Pattern no 151 Derby c 1787'. reference; See a painted sketch for the pattern in W.D.John 'William Billingsley (1758 - 1828) 1968, pl 28.
