Summary
A pair of steel hunting spear heads of eliptical shape fitted with brass clamps and steel thumbscrews the tapered forte concave either side of a central rib and incised with hun ting scenes depicting 18th century European gentlemen on horseback with lions, antelopes, boar and deer; the decoration showing traces of gilding.

North German, 17th century according to Tony North, Victoria and Albert Museum, Jan.1987. Purchased by the National Trust from John George Herbert, 8th Earl of Powis and the Powis Estate Trustees in June 2010.
