This portrait, by an unknown artist, is loosely based on the style of Sir Peter Lely, portrait painter to Charles II. It depicts Katherine Newport, daughter of Francis, 1st Earl of Bradford. In 1681 she married Henry, 4th Baron Herbert of Chirbury. She died in 1716 having had no children.

A three-quarter-length portrait, wearing orange-brown dress and holding a white [?now grey] scarf to her stomach. Katherine was the wife of Henry Herbert, 4th Baron Herbert of Chirbury
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963. Recorded at Powis Castle in Montgomery Collections Vol VI P.148 in 1873.
