Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Gentleman, English School, early to mid 18th century. A half-length oval painted portrait of a man, wearing a red velvet cap and coat, turned to the left, formerly identified as a self-portrait of Richard Wilson.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
