Caption
Charlotte Herbert was the third daughter of William, 2nd Marquess of Powis. Her first husband was Edward Morris of Pen-y-bont, who she married in 1723. She later married Edward Williams of Yestyn Colwyn. This portrait was painted by Michael Dahl, a Swedish artist who lived and worked in England for most of his career.
Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Lady Charlotte Herbert (died after 1751), later Lady Charlotte Morris (m. 1723), then Lady Charlotte Williams by Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656 – London 1743), circa 1710 -20. A three-quarter-length portrait of the third daughter of William, second Marquess of Powis; she married firstly, in 1723, Edward Morris of Penybont and secondly Edward Williams. She is seated her dog at her side.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963. Recorded at Powis Castle in Montgomery Collections Vol VI P.148 in 1873.
