Summary
Portrait miniature, enamel, Henry Arthur Herbert, 1st Earl of Powis II (1703-1772) by Christian Friedrich Zincke (Dresden 1685 - Lambeth 1767). 1745 - 1749. Oval. Half-length portrait of a man, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a brown velvet coat and blue waistcoat. Dark blue eyes, lond grey wig, florid complexion, aged about 45. Plain dark brown background lit from the right. Gold and blue enamel locket with pearl edge. On reverse glazed enamel monogram 'P' under coronet.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
