Summary
Box and cover, turned wood with stick lacquer decoration in spiral band of yellow, orange and black; probably bamboo. The box tapers towards the foot; the slightly domed cover with two-tier finial. S.W.India (?) (probably Malabar), proabably late 18th/early 19th century.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
