Oil painting on canvas, imaginary Portrait of Katherine Knyvett, Lady Paget (1547-1622), English School, eighteenth century, an imaginary half-length portrait in sixteenth-century-style, previously thought to be Mary Tudor but in fact depicting Katherine Knyvett, wife of Henry, 2nd Baron Paget (c. 1539–1568), wearing a dark dress trimmed with fur, and a jewelled headdress.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Government in lieu of inheritance tax and allocated to the National Trust for display at Plas Newydd, 2016.
