Caption
This image of a peasant pulling a sticking plaster from his hand to represent the sense of touch is one of many variations painted by Teniers on the theme of the five senses. The peasant grimaces in pain as he pulls the plaster from his hand. An arrangement of medicine bottles and a silver dish on a table to the left suggest that he may be about to bathe the wound.
