Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Princess Anne, later Queen Anne (1665 -1714) by Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646 - London 1723), 1683. A three-quarter-length portrait, square on, seated in a landscape, head inclined slightly to the left, gazing at spectator, décolleté dress, almost off shoulder, right hand in lap, left arm resting on plinth. The landscape background, with white steps and balustrade on the left, and the pose of the sitter are same as CHI/P/80 (1171174). The orange tree and blossom probably refers to her marriage to Prince George of Denmark in 1683.
