Oil painting on canvas, Mary Myddelton (1688-1747) by Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656/9 – London 1743), circa 1710-15. A three-quarter-length of a young woman, standing in a landscape, turned slightly to right, gazing at spectator, wearing a blue wrap-over dress, with white shift, her right arm by her side and pointing with her left hand to a wild rose.

By inheritance; in Chirk Castle catalogue, c.1900, as in Saloon. (Shown on diagrammatic hang [west wall , top register]) and in manuscript picture list as :“17. Mis [sic] Mary Myddelton.” On loan to the Trust from Guy Charles Myddelton. Gifted to Guy C Myddelton from Captain David Myddelton in 2010.Purchased by the National Trust from Mr Guy Myddelton in 2023
