Summary
Oil painting on canvas, William III (1650–1702) and Prince George of Denmark (1653–1708) at the Battle of the Boyne, 1690, after Jan Wyck (Haarlem 1645 – Mortlake 1700), after a signed and dated version of 1697, sold at auction in 1987. William III, gazing at spectator, with his right arm raised holding a drawn sword, wearing a full-bottom wig, plumed hat, lace cravat and blue coat with decoration. Behind him to right, on a white horse, Prince George, the horse turned to the left, its front left foot raised, with George in profile, wearing a plumed hat, and full-bottomed wig. A mounted cavalry on a raised bank in the background, with cloudy sky.

Provenance
With some of the contents, in 1978, that were acquired along with Chirk Castle from Lt-Col Ririd Myddelton (1902–1988) by the National Land Fund and handed, on loan for 99 years, to the Secretary of State. On loan to the Trust from Guy Charles Myddelton. Gifted to Guy C Myddelton from Captain David Myddelton in 2010.
