Summary

Oil painting on canvas, Madonna and Child, British (English) School, late 18th century. She is seated, in blue cloak, looking to her left with her arms around the Christ child. It is reminiscent, in both composition and handling, of the work of West and Cosway circa 1760-1770.

Provenance

Given by Philip Yorke III (1905 – 1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973
