In inventory of the house of the late James Hutton, uncle of Philip Yorke I (1743 – 1804) and whose father was the collector Matthew Hutton (d. 1728)), in Park Lane, 27-28 July 1770 as Battle Piece, by Vandermeulen [struck through] Bourgonone"; possibly in undated early 19th century inventory of Erddig, as: "Battle Piece - Bourgonone" [but both these refs. may be to the picture in the Saloon in the manner of Pandolfo Reschi instead]; and thence by descent until given by Philip Yorke III (1905 – 1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973
