Summary
Bracket clock. An early 18th century, scarlet, tortoiseshell boulle bracket clock, with bracket, mounted overall with ormolu cast and chased with masks, Cupid and other typical rococo motifs. The circular, enamelled dial has a strike/silent movement. Scratched inside the backplate "F.G. Fraser, May 1848, J.J. Edisbury, January 28th 1882 Cleaned five clocks at Erddig, Erddig, W. Corbett..."
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
