Summary
A walnut and featherbanded bureau bookcase, English, circa 1725. The upper section having a moulded cornice above a pair of doors each fitted with a later mirror plate within a double bead. The doors enclosing an oak-lined interior of shelves and six pigeonholes. The backboards of oak. The doors above a pair of candle-slides (with repairs). The base fitted with a featherbanded fall within a double bead and fitted with a book rest. The interior veneered with walnut and with later baize lining to its interior. The interior of drawers and pigeonholes behind a well with sliding cover. The drawer fronts of walnut, and lined with oak. Some drawers later replacements, made of softwood and with mahogany fronts. Above two short and two graduated long oak-lined drawers, with later brass handles and escutcheons, and later turned feet.

Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
