Summary
Sconce, Girandole. A rare English early 18th C. girandole, probably by John Gumley and James Moore, the plate of slightly arched form within mirror glass borders, spandrels and corners engraved and silvered with flowerheads, foliage and stars, and with twin candle sockets below on metal backplates. It has not been possible to relate this very rare girandole, or sconce, to an entry in the 1722-26 bills of Gumley and Moore, or to the 1720 bill of John Pardoe. However, it was probably supplied by one of these firms. Formerly in the Old Attic
