Summary
A mahogany and fruitwood desk or dressing chair, English, circa 1750. The flat arm with stepped central cresting, raised on a pair of pierced vase-shaped splats and three ring-turned columns, the shaped drop-in seat pad covered in leather and set into deep and shaped seat rails with moulded upper edge. On a single cabriole support carved with scrolls, and three further straight club legs, all terminating in pad feet.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
