Summary
A giltwood and composition-framed chimney glass, or overmantel mirror, English, circa 1775. The plate in a moulded surround with several registers of carving, including stiff leaves, beading and interlaced flowerheads. Topped by an elaborate cresting of an anthemion, flute and guilloche-decorated urn atop a pedestal with fluted frieze, ram's head mounts and on splayed legs with scroll feet, between swags of husks.

Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
