Luxurious textiles, irrespective of their cost, were bought in great quantities by Elizabeth Dysart. This set was so precious it came with protective curtains and would have only been revealed to the most honoured guests. 17th century silks rarely survive, so Ham House offers an exceptional opportunity to see these textiles in their intended setting.
Summary
One of five, silk damask wall hangings, 'paned' with dark blue velvet appliqué metal embroidery. The colour has faded from cream and pink to beige. The edges are trimmed with silver braid and blue velvet tassels.
