Caption
In the pre-decimal days of British currency, BriCals could be used to total sums of money. Ivory pegs, placed into the slots at the appropriate place and then pushed clockwise, created the total seen in the four results windows.
Summary
A circular manually operated calculator made of white metal and brass, engraved with numbers and fitted with further numbers and dials that are interchanged by two accompanying ivory pegs. Engraved on front face The British Calculator ( Model B ) For Compound Addition Patent. Engraved on rim T.J. Marshall Manfr. Stamped number on rim 1015. With a black leather pad attached to the base, it is located in a blue leather bound box with 'The British Calculator' printed in gold coloured lettering on the surface.
