Summary
The British Calculator is an adding machine for British currency, made of white metal and brass, engraved with numbers and fitted with further numbers and dials that are interchanged by two accompanying ivory pegs. Engraved on front face The British Calculator ( Model B ) For Compound Addition Patent. Engraved on rim T.J. Marshall Manfr. Stamped number on rim 1015. With a black leather pad attached to the base. It is in a blue leather bound case with 'The British Calculator' printed in gold coloured lettering on the surface.The square case has a lid on two brass hinges, is bound in dark blue leather, lined with blue velvet and satin and is fitted with a brass locking clasp.
