Sizergh is a lived in family home and the clocks are wound regularly. The melodious chimes of this decorative Victorian timepiece echo through the house every quarter of an hour and are much loved by visitors, volunteers, staff and family.
Summary
Large bracket clock by Howell and James Ltd., c1875. Arched dial with much gilt ornament; in case of ebonised wood with gilt mounts, on top, gilt pineapple finials at centre and corners, and a mount of flower basket with scrolled foliage; dial flanked by fluted Corinthian columns; with shell-ornaments in spandrels; mount on base of floral spray tied with ribbon; on moulded disc feet; on sides, gilt panels with sun-motif. Westminster chime.
