Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Charles Skinner Matthews (1785-1811), attributed to Samuel Shelley (London 1756 – London 1808). c.1805-1808. Rectangular. Half-length portrait of a young man, seated, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a blue coat with gilt buttons, buff waistcoat, white shirt frill. Blue eyes, fair hair brushed forward, fresh complexion, aged about 20. Brown and sky background, lit from the left.
