Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Mistakenly said to be William Hoskyns Matthews (1780-1804), British (English) School. c.1780. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a man, turned to the right, gazing to the right, wearing a red coat and green waistcoat. Brown eyes, powdered bag wig, fresh face modelled with fine blue stipple, aged about 30. Plain grey background, lit from the left. One of four Matthews miniatures, mounted together in black velvet.
