Oil painting on canvas, Elizabeth Ellis, Mrs John Matthews (1757 - 1823), after George Romney (Dalton-in-Furness 1734 – Kendal 1802), after 1904. A portrait of a lady in white dress and wide-brimmed hat, seated by a balustrade. The picture is a copy of a 1786 portrait now at Tate Britain (NO4490) of Elizabeth Ellis (1757-1823) daughter of Arthur Ellis of Much Marcle, Herefordshire, and wife of John Matthews. Having given the original to the nation in accordance with the wishes of her uncle, Henry, 1st Viscount Llandaff in 1929, Miss Winifred Bertha de La Chere had this copy made,
