Summary
One of a pair of Qianlong fish bowls, porcelain, c. 1745-60; of cistern form, brightly painted with fantastic phoenix birds in orange with purple heads amongst red, pink, green and yellow foliage of stylized hibiscus and passionflowers; borders at top and bottom of flowers-chain on red ground, pink flowers on white, and red scrolls on white ; applied attachments for ring handles in the form of grotesque masks; the rim painted with floral designs in bright colours; the inside painted with goldfish and green weed.
