Mahogany Longcase Regulator Clock, plain moulded case, white painted dial signed ‘Greene, Clifton.’ In typical regulator layout with minute track around the outside with Arabic five-minute numerals, large seconds subdial with Arabic ten-second intervals marked, and hour subdial with Roman hour numerals, blued steel hands. The movement with steel-pallet deadbeat escapement and Harrison’s maintaining power. The backcock stamped ‘SHELTON’, Circa 1800. Painted wood rod pendulum with lacquered brass bob and knurled rating disc-nut. A modified brass weight with additional lead brazed/soldered to the bottom is stored in the bottom of the case. This weight was previously in use in an attempt to compensate for the backlash in the escapement but following conservation and repair in 2023 the original smaller weight is now reinstalled.
