Summary
Oil painting on copper/panel, A Single-Masted Yacht by Charles Gregory (1810 - 1896). One of a pair of paintings of single-masted yachts (see ARL/P/3). The yacht is seen moored on a calm ocean with its sails down, a rowing boat with passengers, presumably going ashore, in the left foreground. The rocky shoreline is visible behind the yacht to the left. A ship with white sails can be seen in the distance on the right. The yacht is set against a backdrop of white cloud with openings onto blue sky .
