Summary
Oil painting on panel (circular), Black Cock and a Setter (after Heywood Hardy) by Rosalie Chichester (Arlington 1865 – Arlington 1949), inscribed with the date 1882. A red setter lies on the ground looking at a dead black cock, its head tilted slightly towards the right. The bird lies prone on its back beside a rock, the white underside of its wings showing. The sky visible behind the dog is dark and stormy.
