Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Alexander Palmer Bruce Chichester, 2nd Bt Chichester of Arlington (1842 - 1881) as a Boy, British (English) School, circa 1850 - 1860. A half-length portrait of Bruce Chichester seated facing towards the left and looking out at the spectator. He wears a black velvet jacket and underneath a white shirt with a large collar tied with a scarlet cravat. He rests his left arm on a book with gold decoration down the spine which sits on a table in the foreground. He holds another book half open in his left hand. He has short brown hair and blue-grey eyes and is set against a dark brown background. Alexander Palmer Bruce Chichester was the son of Sir John Palmer Bruce Chichester, 1st Bt and Caroline Thistlethwayte, daughter of Thomas Thystlethwayte of Southwick Park, Hampshire. He married Rosalie Amelia Chamberlayne, daughter of Thomas Chamberlayne of Cranbury Park, Hampshire.
