Print, engraving, 'Hambletonian' and 'Diamond' race for the 3,000 Guineas at Newmarket (after John Nost Sartorius) by John Whessell (c.1760- after 1806). A horse race on the Beacon Course at Newmarket on 25 March 1799, a match between Sir Harry Tempest Vane's horse Hambletonian rode by Mr Frank Buckle, leading at left against Diamond, the property of Joseph Cookson Esq; a crowd of spectators behind, some watching from the windows of a tower.
