For further discussion, see 'Thomas Chippendale at Nostell Priory' by Lindsay Boynton & Nicholas Goddison, Furniture History Society Vol 4 (1968), p13/plate 7B and 'A Lost Picture Frame by Thomas Chippendale' by Christopher Rowell, Furniture History Society Vol 54 (2018) fig 6. These both attribute the design to Thomas Chippendale. Rowell relates it to the frame (NT 960945) which Chippendale made for the picture of 'Cleopatra bitten by an Asp' after Guido Reni (1575 - 1642) (NT 960076).
