Summary
George II oval silver epergne of oval form on four scroll and leaf supports, each with stepped square brackets for branches, the body repousse and chased with bands of ribbon-tied reeding, floral guilloche, foliate scrolls and rocaille, centred with female classical masks with drapery or wings, the detachable shaped oval central basket is pierced with scrolls, the centre engraved with a coat-of-arms within a foliate scroll cartouche, with four detachable branches each with eagle mask terminal, the four small and four larger detachable waiters each shaped circular with scroll and shell-reeded border, arms are of Winn, Herbert, Henshaw and Roper. Maker's mark of John le Sage, London, 1739, the four waiters 1733.
