Full description
The design of this terracotta roundel is thought to have inspired the design of one of the roundels which make up part of the ceiling decoration in the Saloon at Nostell, as created by Joseph Rose the Younger c.1770. Rose later had a sale at Christies Sale 10 April 1799 which included a number of reliefs by Bacon, including lot 90: "Arts & Sciences, a Bacchanalian subject, with terracotta and six more".
