Summary
A mahogany chest of drawers, English, circa 1770, possibly supplied by Thomas Chippendale (fl. 1766 - 1771). Of four graduated and cockbeaded drawers, the sides of pine. On shaped bracket feet. The handles replaced. Albeit a relatively plain and modest chest of drawers, it was possibly supplied by Thomas Chippendale for Nostell Priory and referred to in correspondence and accounts which do not survive. He is known to have supplied other chests - of both oak and deal - for the servants' rooms and quarters.

Purchased by the National Trust by private treaty sale from Lord St Oswald in 2010.
