Summary
A mahogany mule chest on stand, English, circa 1740. With a hinged lid and two drawers with brass bale handles, on a stand of four cabriole legs with pad feet. Possibly one of the pieces of furniture made for the new house begun in 1735 to James Paine's designs, prior to the work undertaken at Nostell by Robert Adam and Thomas Chippendale.
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust by private treaty sale from Lord St Oswald in 2010.
