Summary
Autograph letter signed by Charles II of England (1630-1685), without addressee, but presumably to George Booth, 1st Baron Delamer of Dunham Massey (1622-1884). Headed "Columbe 16th December 1559" [Chateau de Colombes, the home of Charles' exiled mother, Henrietta Maria, near to Paris]. The letter dictated to another hand expresses Charles appreciation of Delamer's "engagement" on his behalf and his assurance of his protection. Booth had instigated an uprising in 1659 that was intended to be part of a larger conspiracy to bring about Charles' Restoration, for which he was briefly imprisoned. With red wax armorial seal.
