Summary
Head end of a four-poster bedstead with: (a) square, tapering, oak head posts with cut-out section into which to fit a headboard (not present), with a hinged wood stay on each post to further secure the headboard in place; each post also has single bolt holes to receive end/side rails with one bolt at each end, a metal spike at the top and a hook for a curtain pole (missing on [a.ii]); (b) plain oak end rail with rebated inside edge to which is attached a canvas mattress support, DUN/T/1700: a length of canvas with blue stripe, and with rope holes along each side and along the loose end.
