Summary
Single slim, octagonal bed post with a square section at the point at which the end/side rail (with one bolt at each end) would be bolted to the post, this point being unusually low in comparison to other posts in the collection. The base is slightly shaped, possibly to accommodate a decorative foot, and there is a hole in it underneath. Possibly of softwood, with many woodworm holes. Square metal hooks at the top.
Provenance
Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
