Summary
Portrait miniature, grisaille on ivory, The Hon. John Grey (1743-1802), British (English) School, c. 1760-70. Oval. Whole-length portrait, of a man, seated in a garden chair and turned to his left, wears a brown suit and black hat. He is holding what is believed to be a potato and has a small spaniel curled up under his chair. Richard Walker, miniatures advisor: Probably a copy of an oil portrait of the 1760's and possibly the 'small oval picture of a boy and dog' listed in the Tea Room, Dunham Massey, in the inventory of 1799...'
