Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Probably Harry Grey, 4th Earl of Stamford (1715-1768), British (English) School, c.1765-1770. Oval, Head and shoulders portrait of a man, turned to the right, in a blue coat and flowered waistcoat. Grey eyes, powdered hair in queue, swarthy complexion. Plain grey background, darker to the left.

Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976); Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford, 'Notes on Dunham Massey Hall Miniatures', 25th May 1960: "In the strongroom are some miniatures:-... The identity of the minitaure of a man in a blue coat (enclosed in an elaborate frame with a coronet) is not known. It was given to me by my cousin, Mrs Bignold, and is not necessarily a miniature of an Earl of Stamford".
