Summary
Silver snuffer pan by Paul de Lamerie, 1728/9. 'The shaped oblong tray has a moulded applied border, with a cast winged cherub's head in the centre of each side. The scrolling leaf-capped handle is cast and the tray rests on four short scrolled feet. The surface is engraved with a trelliswork border with shells and foliage, and in the centre with the shield of arms, supporters, motto and coronet of George Booth, 2nd Earl of Warrington' ('Country House Silver from Dunham Massey', James Lomax and James Rothwell, pp. 117). Recorded as en suite with a pair of snuffers by Simon Pantin (inv. no. 2900104).
