Summary
Stained glass light showing two of the Sybils, part of a larger scheme of twelve Sibyls accompanied by inscriptions. Probably Flemish. Predominantly yellow-gold in colour. Records show that the Library stained glass was repaired in 1833 and again, by Morant and Co., in 1911. Further restoration was carried out in 1996 with some funding from the East Cheshire Association of the National Trust. This image shows Sibylla Persica wearing a blue robe, of which the blue is disintegrating, and holding a book in her left hand, and Sybilla Tybertina wearing a gold-coloured hat and holding a small wooden bowl in her left hand and a green feather in her right.
