Summary
The Chesterfield Cup. A George III silver-gilt vase-shaped cup and cover. The body chased with bands of matted foliage, applied above with two race horses and a laurel wreath, engraved with an inscription, the rim with the names of the stewards, the cover with bud finial. By W.Makepeace, 1798, the bezzle signed 'Makepeace fecit'. Christie's Feb 25th, 1931, Lot 66.
