Summary
Oil painting on canvas, William Grey, 9th Earl of Stamford (1850-1910) by Frank Sidney Ogilvie (fl.1856 - after 1935), signed bottom right: FSO. A three-quarter-length portrait of a man, seated, turned to the left, glancing at the spectator, bearded, and short hair with a centre parting, wearing a dark suit, stiff high wing collar and tie, a watch-chain, a handkerchief in his top left pocket, showing white shirt cuffs and cuff-links, a newspaper on his lap, held in his left hand, a pen/pencil in his right. There is a profile head and shoulders portrait of his mother by H.T.Shafer (DUN.P.113) on the wall behind.
